Birth Control

By Carly Herrera

“Teen pregnancy costs the United States a startling $7 billion annually” (familyfirstsid.org).  With birth control people wouldn’t have to worry about all the money that is used on teen pregnancies. With the invention of birth control came a plethora of helpful and useful product for men and women alike. Birth control is a pill that can help save money to the U.S, regulates periods, helps your skin, and helps prevent teen pregnancies.
To begin, the pill helps you in several ways. The main way that the pill is used for is to prevent women from getting pregnant. “100 women that use the pill exactly the right way, only 1 woman (and possibly no women) out of the group will get pregnant” (teensource.org). Some people aren’t fit to be parents. Some women get pregnant and don’t know what to do or don’t have money to support there children, but if they used “the pill” they wouldn’t have to worry about all those problems.
Another way “the pill” helps your skin and helps regulate your menstrual cycle. Your menstrual your hormone, the pill stops your hormones from releasing thus causing your menstrual cycle. The pill lets you decide when you want to have your menstrual cycle to come the week that you want. It also helps you skin by helping eliminate your acne. The pill stops your androgen hormones so you wouldn’t have any acne. If you have bad acne you can take the pill and it will stop those hormones that cause acne.
“34% of young women become pregnant before they reach the age of 20, and 8 in 10 of these teen pregnancies are unintended and 79 percent are to unmarried teens” (familyfirstsid.org). Us as workers and tax payers have to pay more taxes so we can help the teen moms that need to help their kids. Personally I think it is good, but then it has a down side. In the state of New Mexico teen pregnancies cost them half a billion dollars, that could have been used for more important purposes. Most teens who had their kids say that they wished they would have waited a little longer to have a kid because of all the responsibilities. If they were on the pill then it would have blocked the eggs from fertilizing and making a baby
To conclude the pill is the best invention because of all the things it does. You don’t have to worry about bad acne all the time. You wouldn’t have to have a monthly period because it helps regulate it to when you want it and don’t. Another important one is teen pregnancies they help teens with a decision on whether they want to go out and have fun; because having a baby would make them stay home and not go out as much. To sum it all up all teens should be put on the pill, and women who don’t want kids or can’t raise a kid in these times should be on the pill so they won’t have to worry about a kid.
